For the spring 2010 Calvin Klein collection, Francisco Costa showed that minimalism doesn’t mean masculine. Brazilian born, Francisco Costa is creative director for Calvin Klein’s collection for women. His creations stress the idea of freedom with a pared-down approach.
Costa’s 2010 spring collection is youthful and sensuous. The models were almost makeup-free, wearing ponytails without accessories. Costa played with loose-fitting organic dresses, crumpled texture and transparency.
Minimalism in haute couture is about subtraction. What could be more perfectly simple than that?
Anorexia = Minimalist eating?!
Eric, I love your humor. Fashion is obsessed with “Thin”. Some models run very thin. Perhaps the fashion industry has difficulty in taking this problem seriously.
Yeah sure, it has “difficulty in taking it serious”…
I’d rather say: it has chosen the “minimalistic” approach to responsibility :(
How can you people see something “beautiful” in those women or in the cloths covering the remains of their bodies? Makes me sad…
makes me sad as well
Protosomia, Tamar, the fashion industry is taking a series of steps to promote healthier appearing models. Designers Francisco Costa and Marc Jacobs are taking a leadership role to support a more natural look. They have recently shown a more womanly look on the runway. Catwalk models might need to grow curves.
Great casting, always inspired by what Costa comes up with.
