The Argentinean sculptor and painter, Lucio Fontana quite literally cuts through modern art, with these iconic paintings.
The slashes through the monochromatic paintings, which he describes as an art for the Space Age, with which its concepts are very much ahead of his time, still lingers in my mind today.
You can catch some of Fontana’s famous series “Buchi o Tagli” (holes or slashes) this month from the 27th of September at the Robilant+Voena in London.

Sexy…..
he was Italian
Not bad. Not bad at all. Though a photo of the work gives it an illustrative air, primarly with the shades around the actual cut. A misrepresentation or a bonus?
Actually the post is right Unenteanonimo, he was an argentinian painter borm in 1899, as a grown up he moved to Italy. And as Artur said, it is all about the shades. The minimalistic concept of knife-paint is visible with the correct light and has a much clearer view when you can see his work face-to-face. The cutting gives you a hole scale of half tones “painted” by the knife as a result of light effects. Simple yet perfect. A must see!
