RAL5105

RAL5105, a monochrome nautical sculpture, is the lastest materpiece of Parisian multidisciplinary artist Xavier Veilhan. To make it real, Veilhan worked with the Frauscher shipyard of Gmunden, Austria.

When I saw it for first time, this boat struck me as really special and different. Using just one, very bold color accentuates the simple lines and makes the boat stand out as a whole.

RAL5105 is 6.9 meter long and is fit for eight people. It was auctioned off last July at Hôtel Hermitage in Monte-Carlo.

  1. Someone painted a boat blue. Yay.

  3. no no no no.

compare the landscape (mountain, lake) – it makes sense ;)
    (i’m from upper austria)

  4. It is corrected. Thank you, tordis!

  5. What about this line on the side of the boat (first picture)? It’d look so much simpler without it.

  6. Amazing the last photo.

  7. Wow, I suggested this a few months ago and someone just tweeted it.

  8. Austin, I did not know your suggestion but thank you anyway!

  9. This is looks cool. It almost looks like a toy enlarged. Really nice simple design, kept it all to the minimum.

  10. now if it were silvery-grey to blend into the color of the water … but i guess that might not be too safe … boats are meant to be seen easily to avoid collisions in harbours.
