Virginia Woolf book covers

Perhaps not the most minimalist book covers we’ve ever seen, but beautifully elegant nevertheless: this series of Virginia Woolf book covers by McKenna Kemp.

The covers, a personal project of Kemp, are a simplification of the original handpainted Vanessa Bell covers.

Oh, and the books are pretty good, too… ;-)

  1. Handsome concept, but should someone tell the designers that “stream of conscious” is nonsensical?

  2. They’re very beautiful, clever. Except what J noted above, lol.

  3. These are very nicely designed. Haven’t read any of the books though.

  4. For some reason, I got nothing from these covers.

    I like this one :)

  5. Yeah, visually those are beautiful covers, but grammatical errors on a book cover is a big faux pas. I’d laugh and neverreadthe book if I saw that at Barnes & Noble. Not the reaction you want. Proof-reading your copy is important, especially when the desifn is so minimal, and the text is so important.

  6. I like them. The typography is beautiful. It’s a very nice simple design.

  7. Ooo, very nice. Oop. Oh dang. That typo. Now the design is ridiculous. Yep. That’s how my conceited brain works. /snark

  8. Unforgivable spelling mistake.
