Temple

Temple is a great modern version of a four poster bed, designed by the Swedish trio Claesson Koivisto Rune for the Italian manufacturer Cinova.

I never really liked four poster beds, but in this case the vision is completely fresh and light, using a simple asymmetry to make the design more attractive and dynamic.

Temple is made in honeycomb panels with veneer in ash polished natural wood, or dyed in colors wengè or white, and the upper closing ceiling is in cotton.

  1. Why not, even if I sort of don’t see the point. But you also need a giant bedroom for this thing.

  2. As far as four poster beds go, it has been very well designed, however I think it intrudes too much on the space of the room.

  3. Interesting, appealing.

Does recall again the desire to see photos of people actually using this stuff (minimalistic designs, whatever the product is), and not just presentation thereof as artwork (exists for the purpose of being perceived, actual use secondary if intended at all).

  4. I like the design. It would be interesting to see the top of it made out of a translucent material and made into a giant soft box.

  5. Definitely seems a bit intrusive to the room. A bed doesn’t need a roof over it. How is that minimal?

  6. We’ve actually been looking for something *exactly* like this. Well, almost exactly. A translucent top, now that Ross mentions it, would make it even better. My wife and I tend to be night people and we have 250 sq.ft. of window in our bedroom. This would allow us to obstruct some light without having to cover our windows. Also, the room is quite voluminous due to the high ceiling and it makes me feel a bit agoraphobic. I’d welcome the “roof.”

  7. I don’t get it after staring at it for a couple of days now.. Looks like any other IKEA furniture. No reason for having a four walled bed with a roof, that’s just dumb.

  8. the original point of the four poster was to keep draughts out, pre central heating

i was thinking that if we resurrected them more thoroughly we could all reduce our heating bills
