Braun Watches

Braun has re-issued its line of classic watches designed by Dieter Rams and Dietrich Lubs from the 1970s. The collection has been approved by Dietrich Lubs, and only slight modifications have been made in the reissues.

These watches exemplify the clean, modernist design that Rams is renown for. Devoid of decoration and superfluous elements, this is collection of beautifully minimalist consumer goods.

    I’ve never been a particularly fan of round faces on watches, but this is a nice collection. Particularly the first watch featured.

    I really like the metal bands, I have an AW20. Still on the look out for the AW55, I think Dieter Rams wears one in the Gestalten interview.

    Beautiful. I really love these designs. They have a very similar feel to some of Mondaine’s offerings. Are all the models above being sold?.

    That square does not look that great to me.. Looks cheap!
    Though that black dial without calendar and metal band looks great!! Might pick one up..

    If not Major Bummer is going to sell the 301 for an affordable price.. *wink*

    If they are made in Germany they should say it!
    or
    If they are made in China they should also say it!

    Proudly displayed on the face like the originals.

    oh man this is really clever — reissue in times of revivaling minimalism..

    i´ve been tempted by braun design since i was a child – when i first saw the famous bandmaschine with regie components at a father´s friend.
    these products designed by rams, lubs & so are , to me, the perfect personification of minimalism.
    i even cannot find the right words to express my love to braun designs..

    and, erm… i would take the black watch shown last..

    There are a variety of stores selling these online, mostly located in Europe. I got mine from a store in located in London. The shipping was $15 to the US, which isn’t too bad if you really want it. There are various combinations of face/bands as well if you take the time to search for them. I got the white face with date function (BN0032) with a black leather band. I love it!
