Ghost Chair

Philippe Starck designed two Ghost Chairs for Kartell between 2002-2005. They remain to be some of their best selling pieces. The Ghost Chairs are modelled on the classic Louis XVI chair, rendered into transparent polycarbonate ghost-like form. The Victoria Ghost chair is designed for use as a side-chair, whereas the Louis Ghost chair is a bit bigger, and has arm rests.

A very minimalist rendition of a symbolic piece of furniture. Is that a little bit postmodern, too?

I wanted one since I first saw an image of it about seven years ago, and just recently I finally picked up a Victoria in smoke grey on sale at Space Furniture in Sydney.

  1. This chair seems the synthesis of the bedroom scene at 2001, a space odissey. It has a disturbing beauty.

  2. Oh yes, I’ve always wanted one myself…

  3. The best design from Starck, By far.

We have one “Louis Ghost” and it fills the space on its own.

    Amazing.
