Yuna Kim

The purpose of minimalism is to expose the essence of a design by eliminating all non-essential forms, features and concepts. In web design, minimalism erases potential distractions and strips away elements into their most basic forms.

Yuna Kim‘s use of elementary shapes helps to organize her portfolio and goes perfectly with her personal logo. This minimal web site design experiments the use of geometric shapes that makes design so effective. The simplicity is also carried through the navigation making it enjoyable to explore.

  1. Incredible website. So beautifully executed. As a web designer, this truly inspires.

  2. Excellent design!

  3. If “the purpose of minimalism is to expose the essence of a design by eliminating all non-essential forms, features and concepts” then this site fails in attempting that. As a designer I find this site annoying with all its unnecessary moving and shifting components. Also the labelling system is ineffective and confuses navigation where as I have to begin by remembering which symbol represents which category. A valid attempt but ultimately contrary to what good minimal design is.

  4. Agree with Darri. Too gimmicky (is that even a word?) for me…

  5. this all is a little too derivative of the cover composition of a classic book on design- even down to the color selection-is Wucius Wong credited anywhere?
Her design work is accomplished but the topic of the article here could be considered ‘second-hand’
