Minimalistic beauty trends

Minimalistic trends in beauty and fashion tend to come and go, but this season’s experts declare a much more stronger focus on preparing and polishing the skin and paring down several make-up elements.

Natural-looking, or “nude” make-up (as opposed to non-existant) often consists of a neutral color palette of taupes and browns and a flawless skin-base. For recent Spring/Summer 2012 fashion shows at Proenza Schouler, Missoni and Peter Pilotto, the make-up artists even dismissed the use of mascara for women’s eyelashes, leaving the eyes bare.

As the owner of straight, light-colored eyelashes myself, it’s interesting to observe this value for increasingly “naked” aesthetics in make-up and beauty. I believe that the great numbers of men who prefer women with “little to no make-up” might appreciate this trend!

  1. Less is more definitely applies to make up. It’s amazing how much more beautiful a woman is when she doesn’t paint her face to mask, but rather to subtly enhance.

  2. I appreciate this trend! Thanks for the great post :)

  3. one thing comes to mind here, photoshop.

  4. I find women or litle make up on much, much more attractive.

  5. Thank you for the comments, everyone!

@Derek, certainly Photoshop retouching is present in practically anything published nowadays, but you would be amazed by the “natural Photoshop” effect that a well-applied make-up can have – that’s what beauty professionals mean by “flawless base”. Technology has enabled beauty/skin products to have a very powerful coverage indeed.

  6. Finally! Less is indeed more, as always…

  7. I’m also a huge fan of the minimal make up look, but if the girl applies make up well & knows what works well for her, then I also like a stronger look.

  8. I like the smart natural or nude, that doesn’t mean no-makeup just maybe less.

  9. I’ve always been a fan of this look. Really glad to see it getting more attention and hopefully becoming popular. Orange is never a good look.

  10. Cool, so this year going to be fantastic.

I’ve always said the the most beautiful woman is in those early mornings, while trying to wake up ligh by ray of light – the most natural, without any mask, without anything covering her face =)..unless she drank whole night and completely forgot to clean her make up – but that’s another story =)
