Bringing slightly different layer to today’s post with the Finnon Glen house in VIC, Australia designed by Doherty Lynch. Shortlisted for the Australian Interior Design Awards this year (among other excellent projects), I was mostly attracted to the balanced combination between architectural clarity and the ease of the furnishings.
The result seems like a natural gesture by the designer without forced and unnecessary design features but with just enough visual interest to please the eye. Moreover, this type of design allows flexibility and opportunity for the clients in their day-to-day lifestyle.
Would love to hear your thoughts.

Ah, finally architecture as it shoud be; a background to the theatre of life (or supportive character at its best).
Nice!

This a great house, but it’s not by Doherty Lynch alone, if you have a look on their website they worked in collaboration with ‘JCB Architects’.
There is also a bit of background on the Doherty Lynch website regarding the genesis of the project which is quite interesting, it was won in a competition to design bushfire resistant housing following the Black Saturday bushfires.
JCB may be Jackson Clement Burrows, although nothing seems to be on their website regarding the project. (you should check out their buildings anyway if you don’t know them becuaue they’ve got some great work http://www.jcba.com.au/ )
