The Bottle Humidifier by Seoul-based design studio Cloud and Co is an attempt to visually reinvent a familiar household item and turn it into a device both elegant and efficient. Designers note:
When the context of the humidifier as a product is considered – an object that sits on your desk or table for long periods of time – it is clear that design needs to be more considered. The bottle humidifier Cloud and Co designed is simple and modern. Even when the product is not in operation, it’s design allows it to integrate into almost any environment. It is at once a functional product and art object.
The matt antibacterial shell rests on the thick glass reservoir, which allows the user to see the water level inside. The retractable USB power cable is convenient and allows flexibility during travel. It also compliments the form of the object rather beautifully.

This collection of ceramic humidifiers, produced by Italian company Il Coccio, is a tribute to the historic piece, designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1998. Eight different designers, including such celebrities as Giulio Iacchetti, Patricia Urquiola, Denis Santachiara, Alberto Meda and others, contributed to the project. All pieces follow Castiglioni’s minimalist aesthetic and explore the idea of using the existing radiator as a base. The objects sit on, hang from, or wedge behind it, creating an interesting dynamic between two elements.
I really like the fact that even though each humidifier is unique and shows its creator’s point of view, they are all connected by the same simple and elegant concept. There is a virtue in analog things.
