Mum & Co is a small family run fashion brand, designing exquisite and heartwarming handmade leather goods. Recently established, Mum & Co produce a range of minimalist backpacks and cases, each using natural leather, for that touchy-feely vibe, which suits this brand so very well. The shapes, colours, textures and detail of each of piece are simply wonderful. For instance, Backpack I is similar to those once used by London couriers. Fastened on with an adjustable-length vintage leather strap, it also has an outer pocket for keys and various other accessories. Adjustable straps allow for a precise fit and measures 270 x 430 x 120 mm. This one, I would love for myself. Backpack II in natural and black exudes elegance. It is designed to replace the classic handbag for something more comfortable, regardless of what you may be wearing. The interior also has a soft cotton lining, magnetic buckles and measures 290 x 400 x 60 mm. I have no doubt this brand will go from strength to strength, and I’ll be keeping an eye on any new designs.

c.dellstrand is a Paris based company founded by Swedish designer Chistoffer Dellstrand. Specialising in working with leather, Dellstrand’s inspiration comes from Scandinavian architecture and interior design, personal belongings and everyday life. The designs are focused on true craftsmanship, patiently producing unique accessories in which the leathers are hand cut, carefully sewn together, while the edges are painted and polished by hand. One such accessory is the stunning laptopcase.ian. Made from only a single piece of cow leather and measuring 35.5cm x 29cm, this laptop case exudes elegance and is a fine example of the tradition of this craft. If you’re a fan of A.G. Fronzoni’s famous Valextra Premier cases, you’ll probably think this laptop case by Calder is mighty sweet – I know I do! It takes over 35 hours of skilled hand work to create to build and fit out each case. Talk about craftsmanship! Devon, U.K.-based Nick Comer-Calder made it his life’s work to create the perfect case. It took him over three years to finalise the design, choose the materials, and find the right craftsmen and women to work with. The result: leather on carbon fibre cases, showing nothing but dedication to quality and a love for detail. Truly an inspiration.

Laptop sleeves are a preferred subject for designers. We’ve seen them in all shapes, colours and materials, making it difficult to design something that still stands out. Australian leather designers Shuky have succeeded at just this, with the Par Avion. It resembles the iconic manila envelope used in the original MacBook Air ad, but is made of gorgeous 100% genuine leather. The Par Avion comes in five different colours and fits all MacBooks.
