Barcelona-based agency Oxigen is responsible for this exclusive packaging design as a special edition of the new FC Barcelona 2017/18 shirt by Nike. It was designed under the concept of The Shirt Never Sleeps—a brilliant and all-black combination of different tones on different materials resulting in a premium packaging. The agency explains:
Both the functional design of the pack and its choice at the level of finishes has been a scrupulous study for its correct sensorial harmonisation Combining black Skin Curious collection paper, with a black glossy stamping, makes it unique to each piece by playing with black. In addition, it is a combination of black methacrylate plate that creates a set of lights and shadows by the typographic dye; refined details even on the silvery paper wrapped around the long-awaited shirt, a pasted double sided card that combines black and silver stamping is inside and a combination of subtle contrasts to surprise with elegance.
This is a design that deserves to be celebrated and one which exemplifies fine details to achieve good and effective design. It also reminds me of the popular quote by Charles Eames: The details are not the details. They make the design.
