Today we explore Maria's Instagram and gain an insight into how her superb collection has come about.

What is the inspiration behind your minimalist photo collection?
Minimalism is not only an aesthetic pleasure but a lifestyle. I'm attracted to things that are serene and calm, but somehow bold in its own way. On the other hand, it's important that things are real and untouched so every now and then there will be photos that might not be the most minimal.

How does your surroundings impact your creativity?
New York is a busy city where you can always go somewhere to find inspiration if you need it. Still, I tend to shy away from any disturbance and surround myself with clear and open spaces that breathe instead. It keeps my mind at ease and makes it easier for me to focus. Other than that I like to surround myself with smart, motivated and positive people.

When and how do you decide to take a photo?
Whenever I see something that is visually pleasing, which includes the small things in life, silent moments, newly acquired objects, beautiful views, museum visits and design projects.

What is your favourite quote on minimalism?
"Good design is as little design as possible." -- Dieter Rams
