Why should home wares be limited to the flat bi-dimensionality of table tops? Oslo-based Norwegian designer Falke Svatun challenges this conventional perception in shape, function and appearance with his Tumble Vase design.
The stoneware vessel was a contribution to Structure, a recent exhibition on contemporary Norwegian art and design in Milan. Tumble's cutout at the base allows it to sit on the edge of a shelf or sill, while still permitting the vase to balance on flat surfaces.
Falke studied industrial design at the University of Technology in Sydney and the main focus of his practice has been within creating furniture, lighting and accessories with a minimalistic approach, often with historic references. His work has been exhibited in Oslo, Stockholm, Milan, Paris and Copenhagen.
