Minimal art is a style of art that emerged in the 1960s and is characterised by its simplicity, use of geometric forms and shapes, and a focus on the essentials. It is often associated with the minimalism movement, which emphasises simplicity and the removal of unnecessary elements.

Minimalism in art can be expressed in a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, and architecture. In painting, minimal art is often characterised by the use of a limited colour palette, simple geometric forms, and repetition of elements. In sculpture, minimal art may involve the use of geometric shapes and the use of industrial materials, such as steel and concrete.

Minimal art offers a highly purified form of beauty. It can also be seen as representing such qualities as truth, order, simplicity, and harmony. Minimalism in an art form can be seen as extending the abstract idea that art should have its own reality and not be an imitation of some other thing.

Minimalissimo is founded on the kindness and support of Georg Ritter von Onciul and 29 others. If you enjoy what we’re doing, consider joining this group.
