Every now and again we like to share with you design that is a little more lighthearted. So when we were introduced to industrial designer Gražina Bočkutė’s charming and minimal MEI desk accessory, we immediately fell in love. Isn’t that what good design should do? Draw out our emotions?

MEI is a mini emotional intellect, designed to simplify expression and channel interpersonal communication. It is a personal emotional assistant with built-in Artificial Intelligence that recognises its surroundings and is capable of identifying humans and objects.

The little desk accompaniment responds to visual stimuli with animated eye and body movements. It contains a speaker, microphone, and two front cameras that detect stereoscopic images.

You could say that MEI might not be the best tool to help you focus, but you could say it is a useful tool for one’s well-being. It is certainly very easy to slip into a negative mindset while we work, so if MEI becomes a little reminder to be more positive, that can only be a good thing.
