It’s been ten years since Lee Broom won the audience of Milan Design Week by storm, presenting his show ‘Time Machine’, comprised of various design classics in all-white. Now, after evolving from a new face to an established, world famous product designer in such a short period of time, he reflects on his work with an all-black capsule collection of his own most iconic pieces.

For his tenth appearance at London Design Festival, Broom decked out his Shoreditch flagship store with this capsule collection—going by the title On Reflection—and created a surreal modernist tableau by embedding the all-black products in a mysterious black and charcoal interior, arranged around a faux mirror effect which increased the focus on the individual designs.

On Reflection, spanning furniture, lighting design and interior accessories, looks like a self evident next step in Brooms oeuvre, as the reduction to black emphasises the luxurious and exuberant appearance so innate to his work. Minimalism doesn’t have to be plain and simple. Sometimes minimalist shapes like spheres, cylinders or circles hold the deepest, most wonderful secrets.
