New Zealand-based Studio South was approached by architect Borijan Milic to create an identity for a small Auckland-based architecture practice, Verso. The design project gives life to the name Verso and makes reference to the left-hand page of an open book, the back of a loose document or the reverse of an object such as a coin or painting. The studio explains:
Weaving a pattern based on this idea, alongside a monochromatic colour palette of black, greys and whites through all collateral, we arrived at an image for Verso that's as sophisticated as it is playful. Uncoated paper stocks, black and white foils and a metallic silver ink work across the collateral to give the identity tactility.
Simplicity and clarity form the basis of the brand, but the fantastic pattern design offers a subtle distinction that makes the brand remarkable without losing its minimalist appeal.
