When we consider furniture design, we don’t focus entirely on its primary function—comfort. Instead, we look beyond this and into the design details—form, material, and craftsmanship. We want to find the value in design, and to appreciate it beyond its core function. Furniture can change how we perceive spaces we inhabit and the feelings want to evoke. So when we discovered the Fold Series by industrial designer Olivier Grégoire, it captivated us.
Comprised entirely of fibreglass and available in raw, white, or black finishes, the aptly named Fold furniture is the industrial variation of Olivier’s Fold chair. Originally created for the brand Acne Studios as a limited edition, this collection was adapted to fit the constraints of mass production. The set of seats (Chair, Stool, and Bench) maintains the same weightless design as their predecessor. Due to the fibreglass material, these pieces are strong and durable, allowing them to be used both indoor and outdoor.
Olivier is currently Principal Industrial Designer at electronic company Logitech, as well as collaborating with design partners to create furniture, lighting, and exhibition designs. We're certain this won’t be the last occasion we celebrate his work.
