The Orb Door Handle combines technology and streamlined detailing, through a push to create a smart object. Conceived by Ukraine-based designer, Michael Samoriz, this piece is integrated into the door system and challenges the classic lever by inviting users to push down on an orbit. The use of lighting into the orbit element allows for use as a vacancy indicator, or as a night-light illumination device also.

Samoriz is primarily an industrial designer who also has portfolios in interiors, visualisation, 3D graphics and product design. He was one of the key founders of Umbra-Designs studio and now spearheads his own independent projects. The Orb Door Handle is a beautifully minimal example of considered formal and functional design coming together.
