Pause for Harmony is a collaboration between Japanese fashion house Issey Miyake and Finnish glassware company Iittala. The collection comprises simple homewares and was created to turn ordinary activities into special, mindful moments, like relaxing on the couch, making tea, or arranging freshly cut flowers in a vase.

Comprising delicate textile, ceramic and glass pieces for the home, the collaboration has been in development for over four years, with the two brands coming together to create an ambient blend of Japanese and Scandinavian design. Ultimately, the collection is about mindfulness: being present for the day-to-day happenings that, with busy, technology driven lives, we often take for granted.

Cereal Magazine recently met with both brands to examine the influence and thought process behind the collaboration. With superb photography from Rich Stapleton, the feature focuses on each object with the same mindfulness intended for the objects themselves.
