Delicate and light, AILE is a desk lamp created by Ferréol Babin, a French independent designer based in Treviso, Italy. AILE is an impeccable prototype, made of aluminium, carbon fibre, paper and LEDs, and can be powered by both mains and USB plug.
A flat LED source is hidden under the curved dome, made of paper, and sits on a thin carbon rod. The circular aluminium base balances the composition, providing central weight in contrast with the other fragile elements. Graceful and ethereal, one nearly forgets the presence of technology.
Babin has studied Spatial and Object design in France and Japan, and currently works under the direction of the mighty Sam Baron at Fabrica, Bennetton's communications research centre.
