Menu’s Peek Table Lamp was originally designed as a floor lamp, to act as an accessory that illuminated and had its own character. It then evolved into the Peek Table Lamp that it is today. Designed by Swedish designer Jonas Wagell for Menu, the proportions are both functional and to add an unexpected quirk. Sitting at 45cm tall and 15cm wide, the piece is available in both white or black powder-coated steel. Both the floor lamp and table lamp are the same size in diameter, only the proportions are stretched in one, and shrunk in the other.

There is an air of sophistication in how the Peek adds to a space. So often the lamp design is such a feature, it distracts from the space, or can seem an installation in itself, and this piece is anything but. It's Scandinavian egalitarian socialism in a lamp.

There are three basic elements that comprise the lamp—base, shade and stem—making its minimal simplicity in its composition even more beautiful. At the base of the lamp is a concave element that acts as a place to store or place objects, or to give an additional dimension, and the top of the stem acts as a touch dimmer for the lamp. Menu’s intended purpose to bring together simple, clever and less complicated design has again won the game with this piece, in an ever so subtle and delicate way.
