Sydney-based Galerie pompom's latest exhibition features interdisciplinary artist Consuelo Cavaniglia's installation Uncertain Encounters, where sculptures, wall-based works and painted surfaces create slight visual illusions that activate mild deceptions and upset our sense of spatial order.
Uncertain Encounters is about elements coming together, yet the meeting point is not always harmonious. Comprising of sparse elements — mirrored, metal sculptures that reflect colourful wall pieces — the installation involves the three-dimensional space, engaging the viewer to move around the objects. In doing so, the reflection of the viewer and the space of the gallery simultaneously splits, doubles and disappears — the ultimate minimalism.
The show runs until the 24th of July.
