Charlie May is a UK-based designer who has accompanied this publication for a while now, for good reasons. Her sense of minimalism is distilled further with every collection, bringing her growing experience into more and more sculptural and refined designs.
The Autumn / Winter 16 collection succeeds at the most multilayered silhouettes so far, setting the very natural and strongly varying textures in scene perfectly. The similarly natural colours are not limited to monochrome black and white, but so carefully chosen that any blue, green or beige seems more like an enhancement of the silhouette or the fabric than a statement in itself. Charlie May is also a true master in changing cutlines, hemlines and classic details — like the turtleneck or the v-neck — ever so slightly, making all her outfits about unexpected geometric shapes that show the female body in a modern way: self-contained but approachable, timeless but different.
